ANNUAL POMPANO BEACH FISHING RODEO was established in 1965 by the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce as a means to keep the winter tourists here longer and boost the charter boat business. The Fishing Rodeo incorporated as its own non-profit organization in 1978, and has grown immensely since then as both an event and benefactor of saltwater conservation programs and marine education projects.

Touted as a "family fun fishing event," the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo's emphasis is on "family" offering prizes for family fishing teams, women anglers, junior anglers and, even, "small fry" fishermen. Over $100,000 cash and prizes are awarded.

ANNUAL LADIES FISH OFF is one of the largest fishing tournaments in South Florida, both by number of boats and anglers, and believed to be the largest ladies only fishing tournament in the world. This year the tournament's major beneficiaries will be the junior angler programs of the Billfish Foundation along with Kids ln Distress and Children's Home Society. We are pleased to announce that we have been approved to be a qualifying tournament for the IGFA Junior Angler World Championship. Over the past seventeen years the event has raised more than $270,000 for our charities.

The ladies who fish the tournament have put some trophy fish on the dock in recent tournaments, including a 57.7 pound Dolphin and a.77.2 pound Wahoo. The top ten boats and top three lady anglers receive cash and prizes along with the top three largest fish in the five non-billfish categories. There is also a separate drift boat division for those with no access to a boat. Top Family, top Junior angler and top Pee-wee prizes will also be awarded.

The POMPANO BEACH SALTWATER CIRCUIT is South Florida's largest
saltwater tournament trail. Sponsored by Bluewater Movements, this series of three saltwater fishing tournaments grows more popular each year.
